Introduction
The Irish stew it’s elaborated principally with lamb, potatoes, onions, carrots, and parsley. Although to me, its star ingredient is the Guinness beer which gives the dish a sweet touch and makes it delicious. As you can see, the best of Ireland joined together in this stew: its meat and its beer. For this reason, it is considered the Irish national dish and it’s well-known all around the world.
Now, you know a little more about this wonderful stew, we can deal with the essential question… Where to try the traditional Irish lamb stew with Guinness in Dublin?
Brannigan’s
Dublin is full of charming pubs where you can find a real good atmosphere. To me, the best ones are those where are more locals than tourists. Brannigan’s is one of them!
It’s located very near the Spire of Dublin. It can be considered as a refuge of peace of the daily hustle and bustle of O’Connell Street. You can find it in a narrow street which can be unnoticed to anyone who’s going sightseeing.
In particular, I met it by chance the first time I was in Dublin. Since then, to me, drinking a pint of Guinness there is a kind of ritual every time I visit the city.
Although I was there several times, this was the first time we decided to eat something. To be honest… it won’t be the last time! We liked it so much that we can’t wait to visit the city again so we come back to this charming pub.
These were the dishes we tried at Brannigan’s.
Brannigan’s Chicken Wings
Despite not being a traditional dish, it’s quite difficult to say no to a big dish of chicken wings, especially when they are served with a pint of Guinness. When I said big, I mean that they were huge, besides being delicious.
On the menu, there were two different sizes. There was a dish for one person and there was another to share. At first, we thought that they served us the biggest one… but no! If the dish for one person was big enough to share, I can’t even imagine how it can be the biggest one!
You can choose between three different flavors. In this case, we choose the BBQ chicken wings with their homemade blue cheese sauce. Exquisite!
Traditional Irish Lamb Stew
If you are still wondering, where you can try the traditional Irish lamb stew with Guinness, you should know that Brannigan’s it’s a very good choice to be considered.
Our first impression was, surely, the same you are having at the time of watching the pic… it looks really good! I assure you that, besides looking good, it tasted better. Among its ingredients, we could find carrots, leek, potatoes and onions… and of course! the broth of Guinness and the lamb meat.
To be honest, I have to admit that we felt a little disappointed with the amount of meat. We expected to find more on our dishes. Anyway, the dish was pretty consistent for us. What was the best? Mixing the meat with the mashed potatoes and the broth. Delicious!
