La Cabaña Argentina is a family restaurant located in the very city center of Madrid. To be more specific, in Barrio de las Letras, a neighborhood famous for having a good atmosphere. It was founded in 1994, so they’ve been importing high-quality meat for more than 20 years. Nowadays, it’s managed by the second generation of owners.
This restaurant is a good copy of the traditional Argentinian grills that you can find in Buenos Aires. At first, it was a small and cozy establishment that expanded over time. Today, La Cabaña Argentina is formed by two restaurants, practically one in front of the other. One of its more influential attractions is the grill placed in the window display so all the pedestrians can see it. It’s impossible not to stop there and see the meat when you pass by its door!
Besides that, if you are a wine lover, at La Cabaña Argentina, you’ll find an extensive menu of this delicious drink. White, rosé, red, Spanish, Argentinian, Italian, cheap or expensive wines… I’m pretty sure that one will stand you out! As you can imagine, they are specialized in grilled meat. Besides that, on the menu, you can find some Italian and Spanish dishes too. What’s more, there are some Argentinian delicatessens such as milanesas a la napolitana, Argentinian pasta, or panqueques with dulce de leche.

To be honest, the first thing that came to my mind when I saw it was… wow! It looks luscious! Maybe it was because I was starving, perhaps because it’s been a long time since the last time I tried an empanada like this… the thing is I found it amazing! On the one hand, its dough was very crunchy. On the other hand, its filling was so juicy that when you bite it, it drips. Absolutely delicious! But, if I had to say something negative about it is that its price was high. Still, we love it, so we totally recommend it!

If we talk about Argentinian gastronomy, it’s impossible not to think in the Asado. But, it should be noted that, in Argentina, it’s more than just a meal. Asado is a kind of ritual that joins together friends and families all the weeks. It’s characterized by the peculiarity of the meat cuts. There are several different ones. Predictably, at La Cabaña Argentina, you’ll find the most of them. This time, we ordered the grilled variety of meats for 2 people. It consisted of chorizo, black pudding, and the types of meat I mentioned before. The truth is that the quality of the food was excellent. The problem was that each piece came with different degrees of doneness.
First of all, we ordered the skirt steak medium, and they served it rare or even blue rare. Although it was very juicy, eating it was difficult because it was more like chewing gum than meat.
Secondly, the Asado de Tira was perfect because they served it was in the middle of medium and medium-rare. We found it remarkably juicy, tender, and flavorful. In my opinion, it was the best I’ve ever tried in the city. We couldn’t expect less coming from the best Argentinian restaurant in Madrid.
Finally, we tried the Vacío. At this point, we ate so much that we could hardly try it. In my opinion, it was overcooked and a little dry. But, to be honest, this type of meat cut was never my favorite, so I’m not able to be too objective.
Panqueque with dulce de leche
Panqueques with dulce de leche are probably the most famous and demanded dessert in every Argentinian restaurant. And that’s not surprising at all! It’s a kind of crêpe rolled up and filled with dulce de leche. In this case, it was served with whipped cream. But occasionally, they can also be covered with sugar or even being flambé with rum.
The panqueque we tried at La Cabaña Argentina was really good, though, to be honest, its filling was scarce. The thing is, the more dulce de leche indeed has, the more oversweet it is. But, as Aristotle once said: “Virtue is the happy medium between two extremes.” Even though the dessert was the thing that stood out the most.
To be honest, eating at La Cabaña Argentina isn’t cheap, but it has an excellent value for money. It really worths it! Their dishes have high prices, but they are abundant, and their quality is undeniable. Our experience at the best Argentinian restaurant in Madrid was unbeatable. That’s the reason we totally recommend it.
