When we talk about German cuisine, the first dishes that come to mind are bratwurst, pretzels, or baked pork knuckle. That is not surprising! After all, those are the most famous German dishes outside the country and possibly the easiest to find. Although if you travel around the country, you will discover many others that are delicious and not as well known as the previous ones. Specifically, when we visited Berlin, we tried spätzle, and since then, we have been in love with this type of pasta.
But… what are spätzle? It is a kind of pasta popular in the southern part of Germany and Austria that is usually served as an accompaniment to meats or as a main dish. Its ingredients are simple: flour, egg, salt, and water. Whatsmore, it is similar to any other type of pasta and can be found in different shapes.
